The Rideau Heritage Route offers recreational tours by water and land. The Rideau, a heritage slackwater canal system of 47 locks, 24 lock stations connects 202 kilometres of navigable waterway. Built 1826-32, the Rideau Canal was a critical trade route between Kingston and Ottawa. Today, the canal is managed by Parks Canada, May to October with scenic tours offering full, half day, 4 night/5 day all inclusive boat cruises, luxury cycling or paddling adventures inn to inn.

Her ancestors are both those who are Indigenous to this territory and those who first settled in Whitney, Algonquin Park and the Ottawa Valley.
Christine is the Owner of Waaseyaa Consulting, an Indigenous culture and heritage consulting company with a branch, Waaseyaa Cultural Tours, an Indigenous-based tourism company operating in Algonquin territory. Waaseyaa Cultural Tours offers opportunities for people to learn about 11,000+ years of Madaoueskarini Algonquin history through land-based programming in unceded Algonquin territory, including Algonquin Provincial Park. Waaseyaa means “bright light” in Anishinaabemowin, the language of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg Nation.
